Georgia Raised Biscuts

Georgia Raised Biscuts

1 Tbsp yeast
2 cups warm water
1 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter
4 1/2 cups flour

Place the yeast and water in a mixing bowl for 10 minutes. When proofed add sugar, salt and butter. Slowly add flour and beat with an electric mixer until dough has an elastic consistency. Stir in rest of flour and knead well.
Divide dough into 2 portions. Roll out to 1/4", cut with a cup or cookie cutters. Spread butter on each round and stack them 2 high.
Allow to rise on a cookie sheet until doubled in bulk. Bake at 400 for 15 to 20 minutes.
Makes 26-30 biscuts (13-15 stacked)

**I know this recipe takes a little longer for biscuts, but well worth it. Comes from My Goose Is Cooked cook book.
